“blur.co.uk today confirmed that a feature length documentary film telling the story of blur is due for cinema release in the UK on January 19th 2009. “No Distance Left to Run” is directed by 32 (Dylan Southern & Will Lovelace) and is a Pulse Films production.

Filmed throughout the band’s 2009 rehearsals and acclaimed summer tour, No Distance Left To Run finds four members of blur together for the first time in nine years. With previously unseen archive material alongside revealing new interviews and reportage, the film recounts blur’s highs and lows, from Colchester and Goldsmiths, to their headline return at Glastonbury and Hyde Park. No Distance Left To Run is the story of an English band, a portrait of enduring friendship and resolution.

Arts Alliance Media (AAM) will distribute the film in the UK and worldwide. An announcement is expected about theatrical distribution of the film into cinemas worldwide. ‘No Distance Left to Run’ will be released into digital cinemas across the country, giving the film a pristine 2K Digital Cinema screening, with 5.1 Surround Sound.”

IDFA

maandag, november 30th, 2009

Nearly 200.000 farmers have committed suicide in India over the last 10 years. But the mainstream media hardly reflects this.Nero´s Guests is a story about India’s agrarian crisis and the growing inequality seen through the work of the Rural Affairs Editor of Hindu newspaper, P Sainath. Through sustained coverage of the farm crisis, Sainath and his colleagues created the national agenda, compelling a government in denial to take notice and act.Through his writings and lectures, Sainath tries to make us see the real India, and provokes us to think who are the ‘Nero’s Guests’ in today’s world.

‘lowering of the flags’. Hilarisch, maar zeker met een boodschap.

Caprica

caprica1

“Those of us who watched Battlestar Galactica know exactly how dangerous it was to put that monotheistic little terrorist into the body of a killer robot. But those who never watched can enjoy this show entirely on its own, as the chronicle of a sophisticated civilization teetering on the brink of savagery.

You’ll definitely want to check out Caprica”

Flight Of The Conchords

“Flight of the Conchords is a Grammy Award-winning New Zealand comedy duo composed of Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement. Billing themselves as “Formerly New Zealand’s fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo a cappella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo”,[1] the group uses a combination of witty observation, characterisation and acoustic folk guitars. The duo’s comedy and music became the basis of a BBC radio series and then an American television series, which premiered in 2007, also called Flight of the Conchords.

Slumdog Millionaire (wow!)

zondag, december 28th, 2008

A gaudy, gorgeous rush of color, sound and motion, “Slumdog Millionaire,” the latest from the British shape-shifter Danny Boyle, doesn’t travel through the lower depths, it giddily bounces from one horror to the next. A modern fairy tale about a pauper angling to become a prince, this sensory blowout largely takes place amid the squalor of Mumbai, India, where lost children and dogs sift through trash so fetid you swear you can smell the discarded mango as well as its peel, or could if the film weren’t already hurtling through another picturesque gutter.

Let the right one in (tip)

zaterdag, december 27th, 2008

“The title of the spectrally beautiful Swedish vampire movie “Let the Right One In” comes from a song by Morrissey, a romantic fatalist who would surely appreciate this darkly perverse love story. “Let the right one in,” he sings in “Let the Right One Slip In.” I’d say you were within your rights to bite/The right one and say, ‘What kept you so long?’ ” These may sound like words to live by, though in the case of a film about a boy and the girl next door who may just be a vampire, they could easily turn out to be words to die for.”
